Service & Following My Heart's Calling

Ever since I started practicing yoga I could feel its profound influence on me. I knew I wanted to share that with other people, so I got certified to teach. Teaching isn’t the end though – my heart lights up thinking about how I can use these tools to inspire change, BIG CHANGE. I want to reach outside of the studio walls, social media, and small talk. I want to touch the world and watch it grow.

I’ve known that yoga is the avenue along which I will find my path, my true calling in life. I want to be of purposeful service, to inspire, to lead a passion driven life and show others that they can do it, too!  That’s why I chose to complete another teacher training with a unique focus on service (seva/karma yoga).

As a lifelong student, education is such a beautifully important gift to me. From working hard to earn my scholarship through college to my first yoga teacher training and now this one with Beyond Asana, I’ve never lost sight of how lucky I am to have been afforded this life of abundance and opportunity. I joyfully feel it is my humbling responsibility to give back where I can and to inspire people to reach for their own dreams.

That’s why I am raising $5,000 to build a primary school in Haiti through buildOn. To give back. To light the way for people to follow their dreams.

Each member of my YTT tribe will raise $5,000, the total of which will go directly towards building a primary school in Haiti. If I raise the funds, I'll travel to Haiti in Feb 2016, break-ground on the school with the help of the impoverished community it will serve, and immerse myself in the community to experience firsthand the ways Love and support can make a difference.

This project has and will continue to challenge my emotional, mental and physical self in a way I’ve never experienced before. Yet, in the end I intensely know that this service project, fundraising, and hands-on building the primary school in Haiti with the help of their community and my yoga tribe will be invaluable to the work I feel called to do. The experience feels more precious than years in college, than a steady paycheck in a corporate job, than poking through life hoping I won’t die with regrets.

I want my support to extend through the world, beyond just those people I can impact in a yoga class.

This service project excites me and feels like a service to my own soul. I truly want to serve as a Light, inspiration, and supporting hand for those who have lives far more burdensome than my own - causes that truly deserve the energy, time, work, and money I have.

I want to help Haiti, I want to inspire you, and I want to live a life of passion and purpose. I want to align my heart's calling with a purpose driven service, and I need your help!
